
Roderick Hall
Senior Analyst
Roderick provides research and analytical support to projects focused on housing affordability. As a senior analyst based in the Los Angeles office, Roderick works to understand housing affordability from multiple vantage points to develop precise and effective strategy for clients.
Prior to joining HR&A, Roderick worked for the City of Los Angeles Housing Department as a member of the Strategic Engagement and Policy team, including supporting aspects of the implementation of Measure ULA. Roderick has also worked at Oregon and Housing Community Services focused on data collection and research for affordable rental housing across the state of Oregon. He also served as Director of Organizing for Abundant Housing LA leading strategy to develop local chapters and grow the membership base to increase housing production. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant focused on housing affordability and real estate economics for states, local jurisdictions, and community-based organizations.
During graduate school, Roderick served as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Rebecca Lewis, PhD and co-wrote Oregon’s Housing Affordability Crisis: Results of a Statewide Survey of Oregon Cities, a report that focused on understanding the state of housing affordability in communities in Oregon. Roderick’s graduate project was entitled “Perceptions & Associations: A Statewide Analysis of Renter Affordability in Oregon Communities”, a report that focused on leveraging data to (1) understand the relationship between community characteristics and cost-burdened renters and (2) understand perceptions of housing needs and importance compared to actual housing needs. Roderick also served as a board member for Cornerstone Community Housing, a non-profit affordable housing developer. He also co-created an affordable housing finance course while in graduate school to inform himself and others about the life stage of development projects, public funding sources, and asset management.
Roderick has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Philosophy from East Carolina University, and a Master of Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon.
