HR&A Helps Atlanta Region Chart a Path to 367,000 New Homes
367,000 homes. That’s what it will take to keep pace with growth in metro Atlanta over the next decade — and the region now has a plan to get there.
HR&A Advisors is proud to have partnered with the Atlanta Regional Commission on Housing Forward 2035, the first-ever regional housing strategy for metro Atlanta’s 11 counties.
Developed over two years with input from more than 200 government, business, and nonprofit leaders, the strategy targets 367,000 new homes by 2035, preserves 100,000+ affordable homes at risk of loss, and directs growth toward job centers and transit. Without intervention, most new housing would continue to be built far from job hubs, meeting only a fraction of demand from lower- and moderate-income households. A new regional dashboard will track progress as cities and counties adopt the plan.
Congratulations to the ARC team and everyone who contributed to this milestone for the region.
