Overview

HR&A positioned Audible to demonstrate and amplify its economic impact in Newark. Working with the Global Center for Urban Development, we developed evaluation frameworks and conducted economic analysis quantifying Audible’s contributions as a major employer in the region’s cultural economy while creating strategic tools to guide future community investments.

Project

Audible needed robust evaluation tools to assess the socioeconomic impacts of their COVID-recovery investments and broader community development initiatives in Newark. HR&A developed a comprehensive evaluation framework that provides internal stakeholders with clear decision-making criteria and data systems to inform future strategies as the Global Center grows within the organization. This framework enables Audible to systematically measure the effectiveness of investments in local business support, business attraction, and neighborhood stability initiatives.

Building on our 2019 study, HR&A conducted an updated Economic Impact Analysis that comprehensively evaluates Audible’s role in Newark’s economy and positioning within the New York metro region’s cultural economy. Our analysis quantifies the direct, indirect, and induced economic impacts of Audible’s operations and community initiatives, highlighting their contributions through job creation, local business support, and overall community development. The analysis illustrates the tangible benefits of Audible’s presence in Newark while providing a strategic foundation for future community investment decisions. This work positions Audible to demonstrate its economic significance to stakeholders while ensuring their community development efforts generate maximum impact for local business owners, founders, and community members.
